However, it still can't match the sound quality of a CD.

Wave decoding methods keep the sound quality of albums at their best without taking up too much space on your device or requiring a large bandwidth to download a song that is hard or expensive to stream. If you have an Android device, having access to larger wave films can help you listen to your own albums with better sound quality than if you have an Apple device. Even if you install Spotify on an Apple device, when you choose to play a song through your headphones, you can only listen to songs encoded in mp3 format, not your high definition wave files.

One could say that most modern music is only made so that it can be listened to on a digital device. No matter if the music is on YouTube, a Spotify playlist, a CD, or a vinyl record, it needs to be encoded well so that it can be played the way it was meant to be.

Different encoding formats can send sound information over different bandwidths, which means that the sound quality will be different.
